Sunday, March 29th, we are pleased to invite you to the Spring outdoor activities of the Hortus Urbis, the garden in the Appia Antica Park with solely ancient Roman plants.
This week’s workshops are for all ages: on bees for toddlers ages 1-3 ( at 10 am), for children ages 4-7 (at 11,30 am) and one on the ancient myth about the origin of the seasons for kids over 7 (at 11,30 am).
At 10.00 am and 11,00 am – “IL MONDO DELLE API” | Workshop for Kids in Italian , by Emanuela Marchini – Azienda Agricola Mamma Lù
A pedagogical – educational path aimed at approaching little children to the fascinating world of bees and honey production. The workshop’s objective is to present in a playful way the animal world and inspire perceptive, manipulative and descriptive abilities towards nature.
- At 10.00 am: 1-3 years, accompanied by parents
- At 11.30 am: 4 -7 years
- Fee: 8 euro per child, 6 euro with the Carta amici del Parco
- Registration: 15 minutes before the beginning of the workshop

At 11,30 am – “Demeter e Persephone, the myth on the season’s origins ” | Workshop for Kids in Italian, by Semi di carta
Spring is arriving, flowers fill the Earth with their perfume, light wins darkenss, the sun’s heat warms the air, but has it always been like this? How did seasons begin? The Greek myth of Demeter e Persephone, mother and daughter, will tell us. We will discover more about it reading the myth together under the trees and surrounded by the garden’s flowers. Afterwards with the help of crayons we will draw the magic of light that comes out from darkness.
- 8 years onwards

Hortus Urbis at the former paper mill “ Cartiera Latina”, via Appia Antica, 42 /50 (near the fountain), Rome
Bike: Cristoforo Colombo bike route and Circonvallazione Ardeatina.
Bus: 118 and 218 on the Appia Antica (Domine Quo Vadis stop) or 30express, 714 and 715 (Cristoforo Colombo/Bavastro stop or Cristoforo Colombo/Circonvallazione Ostiense stop) and then short walk along the Circonvallazione Ardeatina in the Scott Park.
